Julia Shirar, LPC, NCC
Hi! Pleased to see you here.
My approach is rooted in the belief that no matter what a person has going on, there is an internal compass guiding them towards integration.
In our sessions, we will incorporate depth psychology, relational psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, IFS/parts work and mindfulness techniques. I also incorporate creativity therapy, embodied dreamwork practices and somatic therapy.
I specialize in C-PTSD, adult children of emotionally immature or controlling parents, creativity/creative blocks, death/climate anxiety, dissociation/depersonalization, grief/loss, anxiety, OCD tendencies and those with a multicultural background, or Adult Third Culture Kids.
My style is client-centered, warm, grounded, curious, humorous and authentic. I also challenge in moments that call for that extra push.
I am an LGBTQIA affirmative therapist. I provide psychological care that is aligned with supporting racial justice and addressing the impact of systemic oppression on psychological wellbeing. It is my goal to always contextualize the individual experience within the collective experience.
